This week I wanted to share with you one of the things That is a big part of my Self-Care Routine.
It helps me relax, t helps me spark creativity, it helps me expand and learn, and it helps me heal.
Reading. I've been very into reading my whole life with a slight hiatus during the time when I was raising my kids, I've always loved it and dreamed of being a writer when I was a kid. I remember reading the Pippi Longstocking Series and deciding at that moment I would be a writer. No, I haven't written a book yet but 'm sure will at some point.
Today I want to share with you a few books that I re-read each year that have been so powerful to mem like a personal mentor. One of the books I mention, is new for me this year but I've decided to add it to the list.
There are so many more that I have re-read but these are the ones that I come back to the most in no particular order.
Let's get into it!
1. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Think of this as your personal guide to living your best life with less drama and more joy! Don Miguel Ruiz shares four simple but powerful principles to help you break free from self-limiting beliefs and live with authenticity, love, and happiness. It’s like a spiritual pep talk in book form short, sweet, and life-changing. I like reading this one because it's a reminder how I want to keep myself balanced mentally. I always helps me resolve any conflicts I might be having in my life.
2. Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss, MD
Get ready for a mind-bending journey through time and space! Dr. Brian Weiss, a psychiatrist, shares his fascinating experiences with past-life regression therapy. Through the story of one patient, he explores the idea that our souls have lived many lives and that healing can come from understanding our past. It’s part science, part mystery, and all heart. This one really helps me heal in so many ways. It helps me deal with loss, it helps me not be afraid of death and reframe how I define death. Definitely a great reminder.
3. Salt Sugar Fat by Michael Moss
Ever wonder why you can’t eat just one chip? Michael Moss dives into the sneaky world of processed foods and how the food industry hooks us on salt, sugar, and fat. It’s a juicy exposé that’s equal parts shocking and enlightening. Warning: You might side-eye your snack cabinet after reading this! This one keeps my ass in gear and keeps me on a path of health. I never expect myself to be perfect, but it helps me refrain from eating processed food by just knowing how they were created and why they were created this way. Want to improve your diet? Read this. You will automatically eat better. Also, a must read if you have children or are going to have children.
4. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD
This book is a deep dive into how trauma shapes our minds, bodies, and lives. Dr. Van Der Kolk blends science, stories, and practical advice to show how we can heal from trauma and reclaim our lives. It’s heavy at times but incredibly hopeful—a must-read for understanding resilience and recovery. This book is just so in-depth that I feel like I have to keep reading it in order to completely understand it and also to keep learning from it. It's great if you expereinced trauma, which is everyone, and you want to understand how your body responds to trauma and how to help yourself and others. It was a must read for myself and my clients that I work with that need to heal.
5. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself & You Are the Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispenza
Dr. Joe Dispenza is like your hype-man for personal transformation! In Breaking the Habit, he shows you how to rewire your brain and step into a new, better version of yourself. In You Are the Placebo, he explores the power of your mind to heal your body and create change. Both books are packed with science, inspiration, and “aha!” moments. I read this book to remind myself how powerful my mind is and how to benefit from this power. A must read if you're human.
6. Read Life Accurately by Sonia Choquette
Sonia Choquette is back with a fresh guide to tuning into your intuition and navigating life with clarity and confidence. This book is like having a wise, fun friend whisper in your ear, helping you trust your gut and make decisions that align with your true self. It’s practical, uplifting, and perfect for anyone looking to live more authentically. This one is a new book and I love it. Now, I love everything Sonia Choquette writes. I think I've read most of her books. This one is to the point, easy to ready and easy to implement. If your looking to tune into your intuition. A gift that everyone has, then this book f for you. Another read that reminds you of how powerful you really are!
love so many books that it was so hard for me to pick but I just went to the books that I re-read the most. There are so many more that read more than once and love. Rereading books every year is like revisiting an old friend or returning to a favorite vacation spot—it’s comforting, enriching, and often surprisingly rewarding! Also, depending on where you are in your life the book will hit you differently, it will teach you new lessons.
Here are some reasons why it’s a great idea to reread books:
Each time you reread a book, you bring your current experiences, knowledge, and perspective to it. This means you’ll pick up on details, themes, or insights you might have missed the first time. It’s like discovering hidden treasure in a familiar place!
As you grow and change, the way you interpret and connect with a book evolves too. A book that meant one thing to you five years ago might resonate in a completely different way now. It’s a cool way to track your personal growth!
Some books are packed with wisdom and rereading them helps cement those lessons in your mind. Whether it’s a self-help book, a spiritual guide, or a novel with life lessons, revisiting it keeps those ideas fresh and actionable.
There’s something deeply comforting about returning to a story or message you love. It’s like wrapping yourself in a literary blanket a safe space where you know exactly what to expect.
Complex books, especially those with rich symbolism, intricate plots, or philosophical ideas, often require multiple reads to fully grasp. Each reread can deepen your understanding and appreciation for the author’s craft.
Rereading a book can transport you back to the time and place where you first read it. It’s a fun way to reflect on how far you’ve come and how your life has changed since then.
Books that inspire or motivate you like The Four Agreements or You Are the Placebo—can lose their impact over time if you don’t revisit them. Rereading reignites that spark and reminds you of the changes you wanted to make or the mindset you wanted to adopt.
Some books are tied to powerful emotions or pivotal moments in your life. Rereading them can help you reconnect with those feelings, process them, or even heal from past experiences.
Sometimes, you just want to relive the joy of a great story or the thrill of a plot twist. Rereading lets you enjoy the journey all over again, like rewatching your favorite movie.
I have been an avid reader most of my life and am always amazed that I get to access to some of the most amazing people and their best work, thoughts, stories, and lessons all for around 20 dollars! Thats crazy to me and I can't help but try to read as many as I possibly can!
When I first started the Soul Aligned Self Care Insiders, it was a book club, and if you go over there and join one of the tiers, you'll even have access to those recordings. I didn't keep doing it because there was not enough interest.
I'm thinking about adding it back in since there are so many other assets to the insiders, something for everyone so to speak. I'm also thinking about making part of the free community over there.
So, if you're interested in diving into a book with me over there, all you have to do is go to HERE and just follow me for free over there. I'm thinking of starting in April.
See you next week!
