Spring Reset Part 3: Reset the Soul—Reconnect to Happiness, Joy & Playfulness

When we get to Part 3: Reset the Soul, a lot of people tilt their heads and ask, "What does that even mean?" So, let’s start there.

To me, resetting the soul is about reconnecting with your truest self—every messy, magical, glorious part of it. It’s asking:

  • How do I practice real self-love?

  • Am I living in alignment with my purpose?

  • How can I connect more authentically—with myself and others?

  • When was the last time I let myself feel pure joy or silliness?

But here’s the thing: to do any of this, we have to slow down. Like, actually slow down. If we’re always in do-do-do mode, we lose ourselves. We stop knowing what we want, what lights us up, or even what makes us happy. And before we know it, we’re letting society—or everyone except us—decide how we should feel.

So today, let’s focus on joy. Not just the occasional "Oh, that was fun!" kind, but the daily, non-negotiable kind. Because joy isn’t a luxury—it’s soul fuel.

How to Reconnect with Your Joy

Step 1: Get Curious
Start paying attention:

  • What makes you laugh so hard your stomach hurts?

  • When do you feel that zing of aliveness?

  • Ever felt a tiny pang of jealousy seeing someone else’s life? That’s a clue! (Example: If you envy your friend’s pottery class, maybe your soul wants to play with clay!)

Step 2: The "No More Excuses" Rule
I used to be the queen of "I’m too busy for joy." As a single mom of three, every day was a marathon of work and survival. But here’s what I learned: If you don’t schedule joy, it won’t schedule itself. Now, I demand one joy-filled thing every day. No skips!

Step 3: Create Your Life Experience List
Your mission (should you choose to accept it): Start a running list of things that light you up. Big or tiny, one-time or lifelong—just add it! Examples:

  • Learn to make sourdough bread

  • Dance to my favorite song every morning

  • Visit a lavender farm in Provence

  • Grow a lemon tree indoors (Yes, even in cold climates—I researched it! More below.)

Pro Tip: Keep this list in your phone’s Notes app. When you’re tempted to mindlessly scroll, open your list instead. Pick one thing and take a tiny step toward it.

My Lemon Tree Adventure

One of my list items: Grow a lemon tree. (Shocking, I know—given my plant obsession!) After some research, I learned:

  • I can grow it in a pot (hello, Canadian winters!).

  • It’ll still give me lemons (!).

  • Now, I just need to buy the tree.

That’s the magic of this list. It turns "I wish…" into "I’m doing!"—and the research alone is so much fun.

Your Turn!

Aim for 25–50 things on your list. No rush—this is a lifelong project. Start with 1–5 today, then keep adding.

Tell me: What’s the first thing on your list? Share it with me—I’d love to cheer you on!
