Creating Alignment Within Your Energy Space
I wasn’t going to write about this today because this was also the topic of the Self Care Practice of the week. Truth is, I never really know what I’m going to write about every Monday, it usually just pops up for me at some point.
This week, I feel like this topic is so important because of all the over stimulation things we are exposed to on a daily basis.
We need to always check in with ourselves and see how we feel in that moment and then decide what we would like to experience as far as the energy we need to experience and then curate that in that moment.
As an example, If I’m feeling super stressed and even anxious, it might not be the perfect moment to watch a thriller movie or listen to gangster rap.
We don’t have control over all the things we are exposed to in our lives that affect our energy, but we do have control of some of them and that's what I would like to talk about today.
Some of the things we do have control over: (This is not black and white, we never have complete control)
We get to decide how to experience these things, removing the friction or negativity, creating space, and then sometimes adding in the things that add joy to our lives.
The TV and movies we watch have a huge effect on our energy. Why do you think they call it programming?
Pay attention to how you feel and decide what is right for you at that moment. You need some fun and joy, watch something that is a “feel good” type show or a comedy.
The news is a whole different story. In my opinion, there are no positives to watching the news. All of the outlets are owned by the same huge corporation and the message is always fear and doom. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need that kind of programming.
My life is so much better since I stopped watching the news years ago and I suggest you do the same, especially if your nervous system is already stressed. Right now, this is about 90% of the population.
When it comes to music, I feel there is almost always a time and a place for all types. The key once again is to cheek in with your body and see what you need. Do you need to relax, to energize, what is it you need?
I think of music like a prescription. There is a cure for almost every ailment from music. Also, music is a powerful anchor. Sometimes it can automatically bring you back to a hard time in your life and instantaneously put you into one of the most amazing moments in your life. At least this is what I experience. Music always brings me back to a time period and it was either good, neutral, or horrible.
For example, when I listen to 70’s music it makes me feel happy and safe. I’m not sure why but this is what I feel and so when I need to start my day within theshttps://www.tinastinson.com/offers/XRASLCace emotions I put on the 70’s playlist and start my morning. Sometimes If I'm super anxious, and I’ll put on some relaxing meditation type music.
What works for you?
Emails, Boy do I get a lot. I loved all of them at some point. Maybe it’s a person that I signed up for their email list, or I bought a product from a store, and sometimes we just get SPAM. The point is we change over time and our email list needs to change with us. As we learn and grow, make sure to go through your email list regularly and unsubscribe from the things that no longer serve you. Remove old folders and also go into your phone and remove old contacts.
This creates space and flow, and it CURATES the things that are of interest to you now without all the clutter drowning it out.
Social Media, if you’re like me you have a love/hate relationship with social media. I love the connection I get from it but all the ads, ughhh! Also, a lot of negativity.
Look at the people and your feed and unfollow people that trigger anything negative.
It doesn’t always mean this person is bad, just maybe not for you in that moment. This can also change. At some point they might be perfect for you, because they shift in their lives also. This is about curating all of these topics I’m talking about into the type of media feed you can enjoy. Creating space so that if something new and interesting pops up, it’s not smothered by all the clutter.
When we create space and remove friction, we create time and flow.
When I got divorced, I unfollowed and blocked some of my former husband's family. It was like a huge weight was lifted off my back because I wasn’t being exposed to something that my body perceived as negative. I was amazed by the huge difference it made in my energy. It felt so good.
Think about the shift you can make when you look at all these areas and make small shifts like the one I did above. Think about the time and space you can create and the peace and joy this can bring into your life.
When we have clutter, we can get stuck, when we remove this friction, we create flow and the space for energy to move.
So, of course I’ll recommend a journal exercise.
Put your pen to the paper and make a list of all the things within these areas that you can shift. Go through them one by one and start to curate a space where you can feel at ease and at peace. Check off that list one by one and then share with me the weight that was lifted off of you and freeing it feels to have more flow in your life.
I’m not kidding, when you do this work just reply to this email and share with me the changes you made and how good it feels, I love hearing from you!
If you need guidance and want some support, I have a really amazing way to work with me.
It is called a Soul Aligned Self Care Blueprint. It’s a way to go from stress and overwhelm to flow and calm in your life. It’s also a way to work with me without having to commit to a 3 or 6 month package. A test run to see if we are a good fit.
